    CPEiE Project Manager - ECHO

    General description of the position:

    • As a key member of the Nigeria Child Protection and Education in Emergencies Program funded by ECHO, the Child Protection including MHPSS and Education in Emergencies Project Manager (CPEiE PM) plays a pivotal role in ensuring effective delivery, contributing to capacity building, and closely collaborating with government, cluster, and community-level stakeholders at state and LGA levels. In addition, Tdh expects the CP EiE PM to uphold professional conduct that reflects proper behavior and respects local culture and traditions.
    • This includes continuously working to morally protect and defend the name, values, and interests of Terre des hommes in all circumstances.
    • The incumbent is committed to carrying out planned activities and engagements without regard to political, racial, or religious affiliation or profit, in line with Tdh's mission and values as an apolitical, neutral, and not-for-profit organization. Furthermore, the PM is responsible for observing discretion regarding any information or matter related to the activities and functioning of Tdh and its beneficiaries, while ensuring that all data protection and CFRM functions comply with project cycle management standards.

    Responsibilities & Tasks:

    Job Description:

    • Under the direct supervision of the Head of Delegation (HoD), the Project Manager is responsible for:

    Project Implementation and Management:

    • Overseeing child protection and education activities and staff across designated projects in Monguno, MMC, JERE, and Bama LGA (including Banki town) in Borno State, Nigeria.
    • Contributing to the development of the CP, MHPSS, and Education program strategy for the mentioned areas.
    • Collaborating closely with relevant government ministries, community leaders, NGOs, and UN cluster systems to ensure synergy with other initiatives.
    • Supporting needs assessments, project design, implementation, recruitment, and procurement, in coordination with other sectors as required.
    • Monitoring and evaluating CP, MHPSS, and EiE activities, in collaboration with the MEAL team.

    Line Management and Human Resources Management:

    • Supporting recruitment processes and job description development in collaboration with the Head of Base.
    • Providing induction meetings and regular communication to ensure staff understanding of Tdh's mandate and projects.
    • Leading and managing staff, offering guidance and constructive feedback, and reporting any issues to the Head of Delegation.
    • Organizing and leading team meetings, and providing program updates with the support of the Head of Base.

    Project Strategy, Planning, and Coordination:

    • Participating in designing strategies and objectives for improved support to beneficiaries and contributing to monitoring, evaluation, and revision.
    • Participating in assessments and contributing to other assessments, designs, and implementations as required.
    • Coordinating with other Tdh sectors and relevant stakeholders to ensure effective project integration.
    • Representing Tdh in relevant forums and meetings at various levels and developing networks within implementing communities.

    Capacity Building and Reporting:

    • Providing initial and refresher training on CP in emergencies, MHPSS, case management, and EiE to project staff and community volunteers.
    • Designing and delivering capacity building plans, trainings, and workshops to target beneficiaries and local partners.
    • Providing regular reports, including meeting minutes, data analysis reports, narrative reports, and contributing to mission monthly sitrep.

    Security and Compliance:

    • Complying with Tdh Security Regulations and reporting any incidents or risks.
    • Adhering to Tdh's Global Code of Conduct and risk management policies, including safeguarding policies and anti-fraud/corruption policies.
    •  Undertaking any other duties as determined by the Head of Delegation that are compatible with the role.

    Qualification & Experience:

    • University Degree or equivalent in Social Studies, Education, Psychology, or related discipline, or substantial fieldwork experience in implementing CP, MHPss, and EiE projects at a managerial level.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience implementing CP or EiE projects within an international organization or UN system, with experience in both sectors preferred.
    •  Demonstrated project cycle and proposal development skills, as well as project/people management experience.
    • Proficiency in English, computer literacy (Word, Excel, internet applications), and knowledge of CPIMS.
    • Previous work experience with Tdh is essential, while knowledge of the NE context and local languages is desirable.

    Desirable:

    • Knowledge of the NE context and local languages a distinct advantage
    • Organized, meticulous and tactful. Communicates well and can work under pressure to meet tight deadlines. Proactive, autonomous, rigorous, analytical, willing and motivated to work within an international and multi-cultural setting.

    Security

    • Complies with Tdh Security Regulations.
    • Reports any security/safety incident and/or risk to the Security Team or focal point.
    •  Regularly update staff under his/her supervision, on security rules defined by the Country Security team/Representative. 

    Tdh Global Code of Conduct and Risk Management Policies:

    • Fully comply with Tdh’s Global Code of Conduct and systematically report any breach of the code through the whistle-blowing framework: raise awareness within the Foundation on abuse and violence and rights deriving therefrom, respecting the rights and dignity of children, members of communities where Tdh operates and our own Staff.
    • Commits to respecting Tdh’s risk-management policies including the Safeguarding Policies (Child Safeguarding Policy, the Policy on Protection against Sexual Exploitation and the Directive on Staff Misconduct at the Workplace), the Safety and Security Policy, Anti-Fraud/Corruption policies and those related to the prevention of the financing of criminal activities.
    • Commits to reducing the risk of abuse and harm by developing a culture of open and informed leadership within the organization and in our work with children and the communities in which we work.

    Others

    • Undertakes all other duties that may be determined by HoD that are compatible with the job.
    • Maintain and ensure a culture of strict confidentiality regarding Tdh activities, beneficiaries, staff-related issues and those with third parties.
