    Community Engagement Associate

    Contract Duration: 6 Months with the possibility of extension

    Organizational Overview

    Ipas is a nonprofit organization working to achieve a world where every woman and girl has the right and ability to determine her own sexuality and reproductive health.  Through local, national, and global partnerships, Ipas works to ensure that women and girls has improved sexual and reproductive health and rights, through enhanced access to correct information and use of contraceptive care.     

    Job Summary:

    The Community Engagement Associate works with the program’s team to plan, implement, and monitor innovative Community Interventions that will increase awareness of and access to women’s sexual reproductive health services in the intervention areas. S/he will collaborate with partner NGOs/CBOs to help build capacity, effectively execute programs, and to advance Ipas’s vision to improve community efforts in relations to Women’s sexual reproductive health and rights. Additionally, the Community Engagement Associate will assist in the design, development, and distribution of relevant Information, Education, and Communication (IEC)/Social Behavior Change (SBC) and training materials.

    Tasks & Responsibilities

    Program implementation ·

    • Supports partner organizations in the development of effective Community engagement strategies, and helps monitor work plans and budgets, ensuring the scope of the project is within Ipas’s strategy and donor requirements.
    • Leads in the design of curriculum and training activities to increase knowledge, skills and abilities of women and community members to access SRHR.
    • Develop initiatives to build capacity of partner NGOs in programming, including the use of formative research to identify the target audience, understand behavioural determinants, and develop effective interventions.
    • Establish and develop links with organizations, institutions, coalitions, and groups to build movement and mobilize social support for Women’s access to SRHR in the community.

    Program and financial monitoring

    •  Support the review of CBOs monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual financial documents to ensure internal compliance, and donor reporting requirements.
    • Undertake regular field monitoring visits to review program progress, workplan implementation and to support the community and CBOs in their activities. ·

    Reporting, documentation

    • Identifies, designs and adapts qualitative tools to capture project outcomes, documents and shares results organizationally and as appropriate to stakeholders.
    • Review all Terra Forms submitted by CBOs and submit to the RM&E unit for entry into Terra system. ·
    • Build the capacity of CBOs to document best practices, case studies, stories of change during the implementation of project activities.
    •  Support the Publication of IEC, SNC, and BCC materials related to SRHR for dissemination at local level. ·

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in related field
    • 5+ years’ relevant experience in Community engagement field, especially sexual and reproductive health, including project management experience
    • Must possess the ability to work with different community populations including adolescents, women with disabilities, men and women’s groups
    • Must be able to negotiate and communicate with community, state and private organizations’ leaderships
    •  Must have working knowledge of conceptualizing, implementing and monitoring community initiatives
    • Willingness to travel and work additional hours when required
    • Experience working with reproductive health projects, a plus
    • Knowledge and experience in community mobilization, capacity building and training of community groups
    • Experience in monitoring and mentoring community/communication initiatives in the field
    • Working knowledge of community entry strategies
