    Church Secretary

    Job Responsibilities

    • Overseasing the Operations of the church office and assist the pastors and staff with a variety of administrative duties.
    • Managing schedules, filing and generating programs for service.
    • Answer phone calls in the church office, make outgoing calls such as ordering materials and pick up supplies as needed.
    • Photocopying documents as needed/ requested.
    • Record deposit and individual records of contributions.
    • Complete Clerical tasks as necessary including typing, filling and copying.
    • Read and respond to Emails.
    • Refer visitors and parishioners to pastors.
    • Prepare and maintain mailing lists and church roasters.
    • Perform general office work, maintain supplies and suppliers for various projects.
    • File sermon reports, correspondence and other assigned materials.
    • Welcome visitors, addresses questions and assist them with any problem.
    • Assist in planning church events.
    • Creates, update and help distribute church event calendar.
    • Maintain all church records such as information regarding baptism and marriage.
    • Keep office clean and orderly.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the pastor.

    Requirements
    Education and work experience including:

    • HND or B.Sc in Secretarial studies.
    • Work experience of at least 5 years.

    Basic Skill Requirements include:

    • Should be able to demonstrate patience and understanding when dealing with confused grieving or difficult visitors to the office.
    • Possess good telephone and communication skills.
    • Have book keeping procedures and good organisational skill.
    • Should be friendly and courteous.
    • Should possess knowledge of publishing, word processing and financial computer software pay close attention to details
    • Should be capable of effectively multitasking on a regular basis.
    • Should have the ability to think creatively, for purpose of designing the website and other widely distributed church materials.
