    Business Development Officer

    Objectives / Purpose of Job Role

    • To generate businesses for the company through Risk Asset, Investment and other Asset Management Portfolio.
    • Growing and identifying new business opportunities and. Identifying new business opportunities in order to generate leads, transforming prospects into active customers and ensure that all marketing activities culminate into financial successes for the company.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Increasing the value of current customers while attracting new ones.
    • Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, trends, customers, partnerships, products, and services - or new ways of reaching the existing markets.
    • Ensure effective management of all assigned accounts.
    • Ensure the use of sound credit judgment to maintain credible loans and reduce the number of non-performing loans to the barest minimum.
    • Keep abreast of local and international business opportunities and exercise judgment in acquiring new business(es).
    • Connecting and liaising with potential clients to establish rapport Corporate Organizations /individuals to facilitate deposit mobilization and loans.
    • Understand the needs of customers and respond with effective plans and strategies of resolution.
    • Generate leads and bring in businesses both in loans and investment.
    • Be proactive, organized and handle work in stressful and uncertain environments.
    • Implement the company’s business development and marketing strategies.
    • Drive increased revenue (deposit) and profit to achieve sales objectives and growth strategy as indicated in the Company’s strategic plan.
    • Regulate and monitor Relationship Managers and Relationship Officer’s by effectively coordinating their activities for deposit mobilization and loan repayment.
    • Creation of quality risk assets in preferred sectors.
    • Effectively monitor Relationship Managers/ Officers’ activities on loan repayment.
    • Timely identify toxic risk assets and ensure appropriate measures are taken to minimize and avoid imminent loss.

    Requirements

    Education Qualification:

    • A minimum of First Degree or its equivalent in any discipline plus a relevant higher degree or professional qualification/certification.

    Professional Qualifications:

    • Certificates from a reputable institution are an added advantage.

    Experience.

    • A minimum of 7 years post-graduation experience, out of which at least 5 must have been in the banking/financial industry.

    Skills and Competency Requirements:

    • Sound understanding of the financial Sector as well as the key market drivers.
    • Ability to identify potentially profitable business development opportunities
    • Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
    • Result-oriented and self-motivated with a high sense of drive and resilience.
    • Strong business leads and ability to quickly connect with high-net-worth individuals and influencers within targeted organizations and sectors.
    • Negotiation skills and ability to ‘close the deal’.
    • Excellent problem solving and Relationship Management skills
    • Strong communication skills in all forms including written, oral, email, telephone, and presentation.
    • Organizational and time management skills.

    • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM software.
