    Advocacy and Communication Specialist

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and carry out campaigns to raise awareness of important issues and influence policy changes.
    • Research and analyze policy trends and stakeholder viewpoints.
    • Establish and nurture relationships with policymakers and other stakeholders to advance our advocacy goals.
    • Create and distribute advocacy materials, including briefs, fact sheets, and press releases.
    • Organize advocacy events to garner support for our organization’s priorities.
    • Monitor media coverage and public discussions relevant to our focus areas and respond as needed.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to align advocacy and communication efforts with organizational strategies.
    • Evaluate the impact of advocacy and communication activities and report findings to senior management.
    • Collaborate with the National Coordinator on program-related tasks.
    • Attend and report on discussions at State Coordination meetings.
    • Coordinate with advertising firms and partners on messaging and materials for caregivers and providers.
    • Provide monthly reports to the NEPWHAN National Coordinator and Program Manager.
    • Work with partners to promote communication and counseling for health workers addressing gender-based violence and stigma.
    • Contribute to project exit strategies and sustainability planning.
    • Network with governments, CSOs, and community partners to strengthen HIV programs.
    • Manage the deployment and distribution of prevention resources.
    • Document advocacy and communication progress and report regularly.
    • Assist local implementing agencies in designing and implementing communication interventions.
    • Conduct capacity-building activities related to advocacy and SBCC at zonal levels.
    • Coordinate the development of communication materials and provide feedback on media materials.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders in HIV/AIDS/STI/TB prevention and treatment efforts.
    • Assist in identifying and contracting consultants for SBC activities.
    • Mobilize collaboration and resource sourcing for gender and vulnerability initiatives.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Policy, Political Science, or related field
    • A Master’s Degree is desirable and an added advantage.
    • 10-15 years of proven experience in advocacy, public affairs, donors, or government relations.
    • Understanding of policy processes and political dynamics at various levels.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
    • Experience managing advocacy campaigns and using various communication channels.
    • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and advocacy/communication tools.
