5th NNEdPro Summer School in Applied Human Nutrition

The NNEdPro Global Centre for Nutrition and Health in Cambridge is conducting the certified Summer School in Applied Human Nutrition in September 2020. 

The 2020 edition of the Summer School is co-organised with the School of Advanced Studies on Food and Nutrition of the University of Parma, Italy, and will be delivered by a contingent of internationally recognised lecturers for the occasion.

The NNEdPro Global Centre for Nutrition and Health also works closely with the University of CambridgeUlster University and Imperial College London.

In 2020, the event will be online and take place over the three first weekends of September to allow more flexible distance learning. All the live lectures will also be recorded and mentors will be available at different time zones to answer your questions. In addition, you will get free access to all relevant and recorded material as well as 1 year membership as associate member of the International Academy of Nutrition Educators (IANE), with core benefits such as 1:1 mentoring sessions, topical webinars, online journal clubs appraising current research and much more.

Foundation level certificate in Applied Human Nutrition covering basic nutritional concepts, through current research and methods, to prevention, healthcare and policy applications:

Basic Concepts in Human Nutrition

Including dietary assessment, body composition and energy metabolism

Nutrition Research Methods

Including nutritional epidemiology, nutrigenetics, nutrigenomics and diet-microbe interactions in the gut

Nutrition in Disease Prevention

Including non-communicable diseases, musculoskeletal health and neurodegenerative diseases

Nutrition in Healthcare

Including hydration and clinical leadership, clinical ethics, malnutrition in practice and ageing

Nutrition Public Health and Policy

Including global nutrition, nutrition and health claims regulation, policy formulation and industry

September 2020 - First weekend

  • Saturday 5th - 10am to 2pm BST: Core Concepts in Human Nutrition

  • Sunday 6th - 10am to 2pm BST: Nutrition Research Methods

  • Assignment to be completed over the week: Essay competition

  • Mentors available on: Thursday 3rd evening, time TBC

September 2020 - Second weekend

  • Saturday 12th - 10am to 2pm BST: Global and Public Health Part 1

  • Sunday 13th - 10am to 2pm BST: Global and Public Health Part 2

  • Mentors available on: Thursday 10th evening, time TBC

September 2020 - Third weekend

  • Saturday 19th - 10am to 2pm BST: Introduction to Healthcare Nutrition

  • Sunday 20th - 10am to 2pm BST: Course summary and final Q&A

  • Mentors available on: Thursday 17th evening, time TBC

  • Friday 25th - midnight: Assessment deadline
